Carol Dale
My working career has been focused on improving the experience of those receiving healthcare or of those delivering it. I have a BSc Science and Post Graduate study in organisational development and change. My approach has been one of collaboration, and specifically empowerment through building self-esteem, self- efficacy and shifting the locus of control. This has influenced my art and there is often a duality to each piece. The end result can be seen as if looking into clear water into the seabed or like molecules or skin cells held together by connective tissue.
My work started with earthy watercolours and detailed representative pieces, to more recent
abstracted landscapes and using natural materials. I have mostly produced paintings using canvases or loose canvas with a strong emphasis on the use of colour to produce emotional response and structure.
I belong to a small group of artists called Enviropainters that make art in natural environments using found objects as tools and a variety or surfaces and we will be showing some work later in the year.
Living by the sea makes it hard not to be overly influenced and I have spent a lot of time sailing up
and down the Swale, so love a dark and broody seascape.
Going forward I am keen to express and celebrate the experience of women in healthcare and more generally in leadership.
We are delighted to have Carol as part of our Contemporary Kent Artists exhibition at The Horsebridge Arts Gallery the 8th - 20th of October 2025.
