Linda Karlsen

‘I chose a traditional Toile de Joie wallpaper design and illustrated memories of my life in the vignettes. Family, friends, and locations focus on the influences in my life took. Mum and Dad, Uncle Jim and Uncle Ken who supported my ambition to go to Art School. Special memories of learning to drive with my Dad in a Morris Minor, getting my first bike from my Nana, and partying with pals. Mimi and Tex my best cats also feature. Living in London enabled me to meet a huge variety of interesting people who became life-long friends. I also had the best cultural experiences including visiting many varied galleries. Over the many years I saw contemporary art develop from traditional painting to installations and videos. The self-portrait is not just my reflection, but of how I feel seeing my life story unfold…’
