Ginny Scadeng

‘My latest work references memories of childhood, with emotive images from some of my earliest drawings. Inevitably, the raw energy and joy of the originals become diluted by the perspective of adult experience until the source is barely decipherable to the viewer and – with a sense of place always a potent influence – the artwork begins to develop connotations of landscape each creative action provokes a reaction, until the composition almost acquires the sensation of being an authentic memory in its own right. In this way the work connects the uninhibited expression of childhood with the structured objectivity of maturity, in an exploration not simply of nostalgia and loss but of the growth which follows from personal transition.’
