Elspeth PenFold

‘My multidisciplinary practice slips between cultures and is influenced both by my Andean background and my life in the U.K.  Root Shoots is a wall sculpture which is part of a body of work made with a whole fleece. The fleece is a gift from a family farm in Cornwall where I lived when I first arrived in the U.K. in the 1970’ s.

According to Quechua, a dialect spoken in the Andes, the past is in front of us as the future is behind us and unknown. Consequently, memory is always a part of the present.’

We are delighted to have Elspeth as part of our Contemporary Kent Artists exhibition at The Horsebridge Arts Gallery the 7th - 19th of October 2026.
