‘The piece acknowledges that memory feels precise but is never exact. Reassembled fragments cannot recreate a complete story; they form instead a restless constellation of remnants. The mirror extends this reflection, inviting an ongoing exploration of consciousness, memory and the depths that remain beyond complete understanding. 

This painting reads like an inner psychic landscape assembled from fragments of memory after the rupture of a relationship. Emerging from the unconscious rather than a fixed narrative, its shifting figures, animals, skeletal forms and hybrid creatures suggest a self-struggling to reorganise after loss. The flowering skeleton embodies both grief and regeneration: what has died continues to nourish new growth. The ladder carried across the central figure evokes transition, an attempt to move between states of being, while the deer, dog and fish-like forms appear as instinctive guides moving through a dream world. Rather than presenting a coherent story, the work reveals memory as fractured, fluid and transformative, showing how the end of a relationship can shatter identity while simultaneously creating the conditions for renewal and psychic reassembly.’

Peisley’s work is intense, highly charged with an emotional content that relates to the everyday drama of existing.

An experienced British Artist, she qualified with a BA(hons) in Fine Art at Bath Academy 1988, MA at City Of Birmingham Polytechnic 1989 and MA in Art Psychotherapy in 2006 at Hertfordshire University.

Following a rigorous training in drawing and a lively discourse at Bath Academy, she positions herself alongside contemporary Women Artists, exploring themes of intimacy, storytelling, identity, vulnerability and shame.
