Debra Ivens

Debra Ivens is a British artist, with a fine art degree, whose work is inspired by the seascapes and landscapes of the south of England. She blends different techniques to build collections of work, at turns abstract and realist, yet always engaging and whimsical. Her art speaks to and of the region, her love of it seeping onto each canvas

Debra’s work encourages you to look at your surroundings with a new gaze, to evoke memories and emotions from times unique to your own life, while building a deeper respect for the brusque and beautiful power of nature, and the wonder of wild Britain.

She has exhibited at Ryebank Gallery, Rye, Gallery 66, Folkestone and recently with Liz Atkins with their Ebb & Flow exhibition at the Fishlab Gallery Whitstable.

We are delighted to have Debra as part of our Contemporary Kent Artists exhibition at The Horsebridge Arts Gallery the 8th - 20th of October 2025.

People often ask how my work can be both abstract and realist, I love working in both styles. Each challenges my creativity in different ways.

Exhibition Time, which means I'm covered head to toe in paint and living in my studio space. I wish I was a neat and tidy painter, but this is me.

Apricity, the warmth of the sun on your skin in winter. I love a cold, sunny winter’s day and bask in it during walks with my wonderful dog. I adore the word apricity and it perfectly describes this painting
