Come and see the exhibitions at

The Horsebridge Arts Centre, 11 Horsebridge Road, Whitstable CT5 1AF

Bruce Williams Gallery, 66 High Street, Whitstable CT5 1BB

For the theme of our inaugural exhibition, we have taken inspiration from one of Whitstable’s most eminent residents,

W. Somerset Maugham’s A Writer’s Notebook. ‘The love that lasts longest…’ has stimulated Contemporary Kent Artists’ participating artists to produce a broad range of interpretations: some clear, some obscure.

The love that lasts longest

We hope that beyond the aesthetic pleasures, that visitors will also be intrigued, stimulated and challenged by the complexity of the theme.

In this way we seek to provoke discussion, inviting visitors to participate in our Artists’ Talks throughout the exhibition run.

Those attending the exhibition will be encouraged to vote for their favourite piece of work. We encourage exhibition goers to also attend a poetry event responding to the theme of the exhibition which takes place on Thursday 16th October.

CONTEMPORARY KENT ARTISTS (CKA) MISSION

Contemporary Kent Artists (CKA) aim to host exhibitions which invite artists from across Kent to come together to showcase the rich seam of artwork being produced in Kent. Artists will be invited to participate from diverse backgrounds and experience. The exhibitions aim to promote Kent artists to wider audiences and enhance their visibility. CKA will work with sponsor Shepherd Neame to offer a Kent art award. There will be awards for first prize, second prize and ‘people’s choice’.

CKA are delighted to be collaborating with a variety of other artists’ groups and institutions. Events will also be held to support exhibitions, these to include an artists’ Q&A, poetry events and artist talks.
